Valle dei Casciani
Nestled in an oasis of peace in Gambassi Terme, the estate spans 35 hectares of olive groves, lavender, grassland, forest and a small lake — a true corner of paradise. In the Tripoli area, it welcomes guests far from busy roads, in a place where nature reigns and time feels suspended. The Casciani stream that gives the valley its name has shaped these hills for centuries.
Within the property you’ll find the agriturismo Valle dei Casciani, a charming retreat surrounded by greenery where tradition and hospitality meet. At its heart stand two early-19th-century farmhouses in Località Tripoli — the main house, where families and animals once lived side by side, and the old barn, carefully restored in its original style. Within the grounds you’ll also find a small lake, reached by a scenic path off Via Andrea del Sarto: a country lane, almost entirely unpaved, about 2 km long — perfect for stepping into the authentic Tuscan landscape.
Gambassi Terme is close at hand: a charming village known for its Terme della Via Francigena and a historic centre rich with old buildings and monuments such as the Church of Santa Cristina and the Church of Cristo Re.
In 2024, Renata and Peter fell in love with this place and decided to make their dream real — continuing the estate’s legacy, caring for its treasures, and creating a retreat where tradition, nature and hospitality live in harmony. Today it welcomes guests with the promise of an unforgettable stay.
Ancient stories
The hermit’s grotto
Follow the path through the woods and you reach the Grotte di Maurizio, where Maurizio Becherini (1859–1932) carved statues, niches and symbols into the rock. His creations, now woven into nature, are a moving stop on the Sentiero dei Casciani — alongside old mills and the murmur of the Casciani stream.
