House rules
A few simple rules keep Valle dei Casciani peaceful, safe and beautiful for everyone. Please have a read before your stay — and never hesitate to ask us anything.
Arrival & departure
- Check-in is between 15:00 and 20:00 — it’s flexible, just let us know your arrival time in advance.
- Check-out is between 08:00 and 11:00 — please tell us the day before.
- The access road is an unpaved country lane of about 2 km — please drive slowly.
- The automatic gate can occasionally fail to close — do check it’s shut, especially if you’re the last one in at night.
In the apartments
- Only registered guests may stay.
- No smoking inside — there’s an ashtray on the table in front of the house.
- Please don’t wear shoes on the beds, and keep the towels for personal use only.
- When you go out, switch off the lights, fans and electronics and close the windows and doors.
- Quiet hours are 23:00–08:00 — sound travels in the countryside.
- Help us sort the waste — we’ll show you how when you arrive.
- Please report any breakage straight away; we can’t be responsible for lost items.
- No parties or events.
The swimming poolSafety
- Open 08:00–20:00, for registered guests only — maximum 20 bathers.
- No lifeguard: you swim under your own responsibility, and prudently.
- Children under 12 only if accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.
- No swimming in storms, strong wind, heavy rain or other dangerous weather.
- Before entering: a shower and the hygienic footbath are compulsory, and a swim cap must be worn.
- No diving, no running entry, no running on the poolside, no pushing or unruly behaviour.
- Please don’t swim within 3 hours of a heavy meal.
- No food on the poolside; no glass or sharp objects in the pool area.
- No pets in the pool area; no entry with infectious conditions, open wounds or skin lesions, or while unwell or impaired.
- Anti-slip slippers are compulsory on the poolside — the decking is cleaned by hand, so please walk carefully.
- Use your apartment’s bathroom; the first-aid kit is in the Veranda. In an emergency call 112 and tell us at once.
- Please don’t leave loungers or towels unattended to reserve places.
- Depth 1.20–2.00 m. Management may ask anyone not following these rules to leave the pool area.
The barbecue & fire
- Use the wood kept under the oven, or charcoal (bought separately).
- Close the windows while it’s lit, and clean it after use.
- Never tip ashes near the house. In August especially, take great care — fire risk is high.
Four-legged guests
- Dogs are welcome. Please clean up after them and keep the grounds tidy.
- Keep your dog on a lead at all times, even in the garden — we’ll happily agree safe spots to let them off.
- In the woods, always keep your dog on a lead, for their safety and to protect the wildlife.
- Cover the sofas and beds if your dog climbs up.
- Nearest vet: Dr. Giulia Frati, Via Agnoletti 24 — tel. 0571 668353.
The farm, water & the land
- This is a working farm — please respect the plants, the lavender and olive groves, and the animals.
- Keep to the paths; some areas are private or under cultivation.
- Water is precious here: it’s stored in tanks, so please use it sparingly.
- Garden irrigation runs every night from midnight to 06:00 — mind the sprinklers.
- Please put only the toilet paper provided down the toilet.
Thank you for helping us keep Valle dei Casciani calm, safe and welcoming. — Renata & Peter
There’s no air conditioning — the thick farmhouse walls keep the apartments cool, and each one has fans and mosquito-screened windows. Times and seasonal details are confirmed with your booking.
